Tulip Weeks

Did you know that the tulip does not originally come from Holland, but from the Orient? Flemish diplomats brought the novel, highly exotic bulbous plant from Constantinople to the princely gardens of Flanders and Holland in the 17th century. The Dutch soon fell victim to a true "tulpomania": the tulip bulb served as a means of payment and became an object of speculation. At the height of the "tulip bubble" a single tulip bulb could reach the value of a house in a prime location in Amsterdam!

Unsurpassed in its perfect form and simple elegance, the tulip continues to fascinate us to this day with its timeless beauty. At Au Bouquet you will find the familiar varieties from first-class origins, but also refined, exotic cultivars that open up and flower for a long time.

Visit us during the special tulip weeks from 09 – 21 March and enjoy this concentrated load of spring awakening.

Camellia Weeks

February 3rd – 22nd
The special thing about the camellia is its flowering time in winter: The originally Japanese plant flowers white, pink, yellow, red and above all pleasantly long. It was named after the 17th century naturalist Georg Kamel, who brought it from Japan to Europe. It became famous through the novel "The Lady of the Camellias" by Alexandre Dumas and the opera "La Traviata" by Giuseppe Verdi, one of the most performed works of classical music.

Visit us during our Camellia Action Weeks and be inspired by the different colours and sizes we offer as potted plants or cut flowers.
